[SOLVED] Code 43 R5 M240
Hello,

I have this Acer E5-521G laptop, and I installed windows 7 in it, removing the windows 8 entirely. Everything went fine, I found all the necessary drivers for windows 7 64-bit.

The problems started with the GPU drivers: I installed the AMD catalyst drivers here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%207%20-%2064#amd-catalyst-packages.

Everything went fine, I restarted the computer, then BANG! Nothing changed. No resolution changes or anything. I went to the device manager, and it said this: http://i.imgur.com/EXHegpM.png

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. Code 43"

Here's the laptop link to the Acer website:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NX.MLGAA.001
Not exactly this laptop, but equivalent.

I have tried 4 different drivers, even the ones from the acer downloads.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

EDIT: SOLVED! I downloaded this driver: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/VGA/VGA_AMD_13.302.1101.1001_W7x64_A.zip?acerid=635379929832293136&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20E5-421G&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

This works for ACER E5-521G With Windows 7 64-bit for anyone who has similar problems :) !

Well, first of all, the acer website only provides windows 8.1 drivers for this laptop. And I tried to install them as well, with no results. Do you think some other acer laptop's with the same gpu would do?

Hi Alcaline

Any chance you could post the links to where you got the other drivers from?
I also have the E5-521 and can't find reliable windows7 drivers - google just directs me to spam pages . grrrr.

thanks

For laptop internal devices you should only use drivers supplied by the laptop manufacturer, not those from the device manufacturer. The driver you installed from AMD website is not compatible. Those drivers are for AMD add-on PCI graphics cards in a desktop PC.

Remove that driver then download the correct one for your exact laptop model from Acer's website (make sure it's for Windows 7 64-bit).
