First Build: Help picking components?
Hi guys. Sorry to make another one of these threads!

I am trying to build a PC that will be primarily used for gaming. This is what I have come up with so far.

Will these parts be compatible and will it make for a good gaming PC?

Processor: Intel Core-i5 4670k 3.40GHz Socket 1150 (£160)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (£25)
Graphics Card: Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 (£375)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-PRO Motherboard Intel ATX Intel Socket 1150 (£135)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz (£64)
HDD: WD 1TB 7200RPM (3.5 inch) - Blue (£40)
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W (£50)
Optical Drive: Samsung 24x SATA DVD Writer (£12)

Total: £861

I haven't fished around for the cheapest prices yet but these were all from amazon to get a general idea. I would like to keep it below £1000.

I also need a case if you can recommend any good ones?

I welcome any changes/improvements.

Thanks for the answers guys. I will definitely get a better PSU and go for the 4690k.

Good call on the 4690k GRUxTSAR, I missed that.

You're on the right track. I'd switch the 4670k for a 4690k and try to sneak an SSD in there (Shouldn't be more than around £60 for a boot drive). I'd also recommend switching to a better brand of PSU because the Corsair CXM series are known to be unreliable. As for a case, I really cannot recommend one as it's all personal preference

Nice choices, that'll make a great gaming system.

Personally, I'd get a better PSU. That one isn't really designed for high end gaming machines, especially if being overclocked.

Here is a great list that categorizes PSUs into a tier system that will help you decide what to get.

For cases, I like Corsair's lineup a lot, as well as Fractal Design (I currently have the R4 black pearl and love it).
