Cant fit Sapphire Vapor-X into mid atx case?
I have a Corsair Carbide 500R mid-ATX case, Asud z97-A mobo and Sapphire Bapor-X R9-290 video card. Pcpartpocker didnt mention any incompatibilities but this card absolutely is not going to fit. The length is fine but there's this metal chunk covering some ports on one side and it hangs down like an inch, making it impossible to mount the card onto the motherboard. That chunk of metal prevents the card from even touching the pci slot.

The instruction manual is useless. Can anybody help me?

Did you case or PSU come with extra screws? If so those screws should work.

New question: am I supposed to use a particular screw to screw the card to the panel area? The original screws are too big.

I'm looking at a picture of the 500R and there is no bar between the expansion slots when the covers are removed.

If you can, a picture with the covers off with the PCIe slot in the picture would help.

Oh, no, I've got it! I misunderstood something before. I've got it now. Thank you!

I tried that, but the card is too thick to slide it through the slot. So I tried removing two covers, but there's a non-removable bar separating them so I can't double up either.

You have to unscrew and remove the expansion slot covers on the back of the case. Then the card should slide into the PCIe and then just screw the back panel of the GPU into where the expansion slot cover was. That card takes up the slot next to the PCIe x16 slot and the one below it.
