Second Storage no longer detectable after new boot
Hey guys,

I read through the forums - though like telling your mother you can't find something, I haven't ruled out that one of you could direct me to the appropriate link.

My situation is thus: my boot SSD failed yesterday. Gone. It was a 120GB Mushkin Chronos Enhanced Deluxe. Very good. But it failed after a few years. I just bought a Samsung 840 EVO and it's great thus far.

Under the first boot drive, my OS could recognize my storage really easily. I used it for just that. Under my new boot drive, it doesn't. The BIOS recognizes it fine, but not Windows 7. It's there under Device Manager, but I didn't think I'd have to format anything for any reason (and I haven't). The only thing that changed was the boot drive.

The storage has some new stuff I'd like to save, and I'm sure I could bring it down to a shop with my external and have them transfer it over, but is there anything that I could do? Or is a reformation impossible to avoid? My world won't be shattered if I must, but I'd rather exhaust every option twice over before that.

Thanks in advance, and if this has been answered before, just paste the link and tell me where to stick it.

Thanks,
pill

To be clear, my storage is a WD Green 750GB SATA. The side is off of my case for now and I can feel it running, so there's no damage to that. It was really just and only storage. I just want to reactivate it for my new system, or pull the files off it and put it onto an external for an extra, extra backup.
