AMD 7970 Freezes only in Crossfire
Greetings, I have two Visiontek 7970s, my computer's specs are as follows:

Intel i7 3770k
Asus Maximus V Extreeme
32gb Corsair RAM
Two Visiontek 7970
Windows 8.1

I built this computer in late 2012, and I had zero issues, around October 2013 I was assigned to work overseas, so I unplugged my computer and left it stored, I returned a couple weeks ago, and proceeded to update drivers and upgraded to Windows 8.1, however everytime I try to play a game with Crossfire my computer will freeze after a couple mins of starting any Crossfire-enabled game.

I've tested both cards individually and they work without issues, the freeze only happens with crossfire enabled (no crashes with both cards installed with crossfire off)

Things i've tried:

I've tried several drivers (14.4, 14.7 beta, 13.12 and 13.4) yet the issue persists with everyone of them, I've also reinstalled windows and went straight to the latest stable drivers but no dice.

Is there anything I can do to solve this issue? Or perhaps there's a particular driver version that I haven't used that would give me better results.

Thanks in advance.

Any overclocks on GPUs or CPU?

Check for software probs - Run checkdisk with repair on your HDD. Run a virus scan on it eg Avast and Malwarebytes

Check for ram probs with Memtest86

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_V_EXTREME/spec... - running 2 x8 pcie slots?

Turned off ULPS?

Tried a different crossfire bridge?

Updated mobo bios?

What case you got them in?

Seen - http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2253064 - "So then I decided to force dx9 in dirt 3 and dx10 in dirt showdown. No crashes. Battlefield 3 isn't crashing either... it looks like that solved it! Man, and after trying so many things including changing out the MB... it was a f*****g driver, lol."

Googled it?

Both the cards identical?

Using Afterburner?

What temps are the GPU's and CPU getting to?

What PSU make and model you got?

Both cards are identical

I've tried with and without afterburner

GPU never reaches 80c, CPU always bellow 40 (Corsair h100)

PSU is Corsair AX1200
