Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver has stopped working properly.
Recently my computer has been crashing while I play games. The game will hang, with the sound looping. Every minute or so it will unfreeze for a moment before freezing again. Sometimes by hitting Win + L, I can get back to the welcome screen then to my desktop. I can get the task manager open after a few minutes of waiting, and I find that I have 100% disk usage, but no actual activity. While this is going on, my computer is still freezing for minutes at a time.

When I rebooted, the windows action center told me that Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver has stopped working properly, and it provided me with a link to download an update. I download it and run it, and it opens a command box, then disappears again. This doesn't stop my computer from crashing. Does anyone know what to do next?

I'm running on windows 8.1

Run error checking on your harddrive would be my suggestion.
If you use windows error checking, be sure to check both options on.

You can download the harddrive manufacturers utility too.
