Hello I frequent this site as its full of answers but this time its personal lol.
This is the issue I currently have a pretty nice setup, The most intensive tasks it does is usually gaming. (not to mention the boost of gaming performance mantle is giving.)
First my system specs just to let you all know
Here is the problem that has lead to this issue
The cards are of course dual slot
Also my case is designed to have the power supply at the bottom..... uhhhg
So since the x16 slots on my MB are too close together for dual sides cards so in that configuration the main card gets no air flow as the next card is blocking it
Now the x8 is where i have the secondary card but here is the main problem with that
The case is designed to have the power supply on the bottom so the secondary card has suffered long but still works although now the fan ( i assume from struggling but idk) has gone out
Now I'm trying to find the best option to fix this.
In short what Video card will outperform my dual 7770s? I have found trouble with this as most card comparisons are based on card vs card figuring in dual makes it difficult.
Now if the only single card option is like $400 ill have to go with the case and fan option which i don't want to do but will to not spend $400 although to do this I will have to source a new fan shroud
SO i need help finding out which of the options i believe are possible would be best and help with what card chip-set i should get for a new card or help sourcing my video card fan (or how to install a new one)
I appreciate you reading this long message i just didn't want to forget anything and wanted to get the best possible help with minimal effort from you all who I thank in advance just for reading and contemplating my problem. Also i tried to format it in a way it doesn't seam as long I hope that helps, THANK YOU

First my system specs just to let you all know
- AMD fx 8150 at 4 ghz
- 12gb memory (I know 8 would be fine for gaming but still i went a little overboard on this system)
- motherboard is a gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
- 120 gb SSD ocz agility 3 (i know not a good ssd, but works for the os win 7 only)
- 2TB WD black HDD
- Dual 1gb reference model Radeon HD 7770s made by (uhhg) Powercolor

- In my mind the easiest fix is to upgrade the video to a single card but if i do that i want something better and don't want to spend a lot on that
- I can buy a new case and try to find a new cooling shroud for the card (although this option will take A LOT of work, will cost less but with my time it will end up being more expensive.)

well with this setup I cant even game at 1080 at least modern games. A 280x with dual fans will fit in my case. I was looking at sapphire cards. any recommendations using newegg as a reference. my case can accommodate a 12 in card at max if power connections are on the back if on the side it can go a bit more but like only a half in more or so or it would be really cramped (would fit but would almost touch HDD bays)
I wish i had the foresight to have gotten a case with a top mounted power supply or just a large not mid case period
EDIT: looking at newegg a 280x is the best I can afford and a design with 2 fans will fit nicely
Currently I am looking to get this card:
SAPPHIRE 100363L Radeon R9 280X 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
it fits my budget and looks to me as a good card as long as it will at the VERY LEAST be as fast as my dual 7770s
Any recommendation on a different specific card?

my budget is $300 but due to the case design i know i will continue to have problems with the secondary card as it gets no air. Also i have an 850w power supply so i was thinking of something like an R9 280X This is all on budget research as far as performance IDK but on newegg such a card goes for $290 my max budget pretty much as i cant go over $300
What budget do you have? A 760 or 7950/280 should perform as well if not better then that setup. New you are looking at $200+, but I'm seeing the 7950 down below $150 used. (I have a 7950 and I saw one for $125, I nearly bought it but I don't need it.) Power usage should be around the same, the 760 should be slightly less. If one card has had it's fan die, make sure you pull it now before damage is done. You can also look for a replacement fan or buy a dead but still good fans card on ebay. Replacing it should be easy.
