no, it will. i took it as a graphics upgrade when i read it. however, the board needs to be able to support the newer manufactured cpu.

Oh okay, sorry if I was a bit rude then I just thought you were saying it wouldn't change anything that is a pretty big jump.

I think that he might of already checked the motherboard CPU support list, cause the E8300 isn't the fastest core2duo so I thought that is how he got it.

otman97: if you haven't, make sure you do check the CPU support list and that the E8300 is on it.

buy the card. if you want to take a chance on over clocking, over clock your existing cpu. a swap will do little to nothing but take money from your pocket.

I fail how to see increasing nearly 1Ghz on both of the CPU cores will give little to no improvement. I guess clock speed isn't important even on similar architectures. Had I only known I would of bought the cheapest lowest clocked quad-core CPU instead of the one I can overclock because clock speed does nothing.

I have a friend who uses a faster core2duo CPU and doesn't get bottleneck from I think he uses a 7770 now. So a faster core2duo will be fine, just the one you have is kinda bottom of the core2duo line. You could try overclocking if your motherboard supports it like the guy above suggested.

i can only upgrade to another core 2 duo
is an E8300 2.8ghz 6mb cache enough?

It might a little, you should upgrade if possible.
