Radeon 6870 HD
Hello im having some issues with my graph card i dont know what the hell that is and no idea how to fix it,i searched the forum here and couldnt find it either.

My graph is radeon 6870 hd and almost everyday i get random screen color or just black screen, computer freezes and the only thing i can do i restart.
Im using msi afterburner and fanspeed for tempeture regulation and my grap temp doesnt go over 65C in games.
But when i use Furmark stress test the temp goes over 90 and it wont stop...i exit the program there to prevent the dmg, dont know how long it would go.
Im using some crappy 550W PSU its been making noise before my 6870 card but it worked on 9800GT without problems.
If anyone know something, anything please tell me.
What should i do,what should i check? Thanks in advance.

Then I disagree with everyone you have talked to. The PSU might have issues, but if it did have issues it wouldn't cause random screen colors. It could cause the whole system to freeze, but it wouldn't cause the colors. Hence why it should be ruled out as the cause of the problem.

The GPU never goes past 65C while you are in games you said, 65C is not a dangerous temp for any GPUs. If you are seeing the colors and the system freeze while at idle or just web browsing this more reaffirms that is most likely not GPU temp problems.

Neither of those explain the issues you are seeing, a dying GPU does. Though if you don't agree with me, you should still try it it regardless. The reason being because you already have an extra GPU that you can try and find out right away if the GPU is messed up or if it is something else in the computer. It doesn't cost you any thing just a few minutes of your time. While trying the thermal paste and PSU would cost you money and a lot more time.

I don't think the PSU is the issue. It sounds like your graphics card is dying. You should remove it, uninstall the drivers, and put in the 9800GT or a different graphics card, or use onboard graphics to see if the problem goes away. If it does, you know your GPU was dying and you will need to get a new one.
