laptop won't power up
I have an older Gateway M-series running Vista. After not using it for a couple of months it would not power up. I hit the power button and nothing, I removed the battery and nothing. I took it into Staples to get checked and was told it was toast. I bought a huge flash drive and had the work info taken off the hard drive.I brought it home and for kicks plugged it in and it started and operated normal. After a couple of hrs I noticed the screen went dim, I checked the battery icon and found I was running off the battery. I tried a known good power cord and it didn't work. Since the battery is over 6 years old I'm assuming it was dead and the computer didn't get power through the cord connector in the back of the lap top. Since I've tried a good cord I'm wondering if there is a known problem in the connector?
