What do these cables do?
Hi,

Building for the first time (it's taken me about 7 and a half hours so far... :/ ), and I've been closely following this video:

http://youtu.be/0zOYdNEHDQo

It's been really helpful so far. Anyway, I got to the end, and there are a few unconnected cables, and I dont know what they're for.

This one: http://imgur.com/g0jDi4I is a small 9 pin (it has space for 10 but one of them in the top right has no socket) connector with "USB" printed on the side.

This one: http://i.imgur.com/mmRVNr4b.jpg has 4 large pins and is shaped like a rectangle with the two top corners cut off.

These two: http://i.imgur.com/1jbXp2eb.jpg are both the same- small rectangular connectors with 2 small pins inside them. The top line of the connectors has a section missing on either end, as shown in the photo.

Can anyone tell me what these 3 cables are for?

It could be for a front LCD, for temps reading and fan control. Does your case have that?

Sometimes there is a fan in the front of the case. It could be for something else requiring power - it is a regular molex connector.

The first one is the USB header - you should have a slot on the mobo for the USB.

2nd looks to be a power connector for the case fan (this would connect to the PSU).

The last one - what to the other end of the cable go to?

The second cable isn't attached to the fan though... It's attached to tthe front of the case. Does that mean anything or could it still be for the fan?

The first one is a USB 2.0 header connector.
The second one is a 4-Pin Molex connector. Used now a days for case fans.
The third one could be a 3 pin fan connector

In order.

1. USB 2.0 header connector.
2. Molex connectors for old(er) style HDDs - now largely obsolete.
3. Most likely fan connectors.
