With a GPU that slow any modern CPU can support it fully. You'll get more or less the same result from any of them. Go for the best/cheapest option. An Intel Pentium G3258 would be prefect and its 1150 socket motherboard would give you an upgrade path for the future. They're unlocked so if you ever get the itch to overclock it you can get a huge performance boost and all you need is a decent $25 aftermarket cooler to do so. Plus its only $55 right now at Amazon. You can't beat that deal.

Of course it with work with an APU. You won't being using the GPU side of the APU, but its definitely not incompatible with an Nvidia graphics card.

No. In fact, I would expect driver problems; it's AMD GPU with a NVidia GPU.
But it'll work with Athlon X2/4 CPU, which are APUs without the GPU.

Does it also work well with APUs? like A6-5400k?

Any/all.

Every CPU is compatible. But I'll recommend a low-end i3 (e.g.: i3-41x0), because GTX 650 isn't powerful enough to even balance well with any high-end i3 (i3-43x0).
