Radeon 7950 = $200 or Radeon R9 280 = $220 or GTX 760 = $260??
Is it worth it to get a sapphire radeon HD 7950 for $200 compared to a gigabyte radeon r9 280? or should i just get a gtx 760

i would have an i5-4690k with 8gb or ram

Frustratingly, that depends on the game, lol. Nothing is ever easy for us pc gamers.

R9 280x is the best bang for your buck.

The performance of the r9 280x is in overall like ~10-15% better than r9 280 / 7950 and the gtx 760. It will allow for good fps ~60 in games with ultra settings like crysis 3, bf4 and upcoming games in 1080p resolution. The r9 280 / gtx 760 however have to turn down some settings in order to achieve the same fps. The current prices of r9 280x is also dropping quite abit to be very attractive, example -

1) sapphire r9 280x (with normal cooler) : $249 ($239 after $10 rebate) link : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

2) sapphire r9 280x (with TriX cooler / OC) : $269 ($259 after $10 rebate) link : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Will u still consider the gtx 760 for $260 after seeing this prices? its really obvious which 1 is best bang for your bucks.

List your specs, especially your PSU brand/model.

Is the difference in performance of the r9 280 vs r9 280x worth the price difference? I won't be using multimonitors and most likely going to only play 1080p since 4k displays are expensive for this I'm also considering r9 270x

the 1152 core gk104 is generally slightly slower than the 1792 core tahiti. unless you need the lower power draw, lower heat, and other proprietary nvidia features like cuda, physx, shadowplay etc... the 7950/r9-280 is the better raw gaming gpu. in compute, the tahiti blows the gk104 away.

R9 280 is just another 7950 but with boosted clocks. Any overclocked 7950s will be able to be on par or beat it. If your looking at the gtx760 which in your case costs $260, I would advise topping abit $ to get the r9 280x instead which has a better performance than all 3 you mentioned ( easily ~ 10-15% better overall.
