What cables do you need to hook up a R9 290
I am not sure what cables I need for my new r9 290 from diamond. On the gpu itself, it has an 8 and 6 pin connectors and on my psu, which is a CX750M, I have 2 8 pin connectors and 4 6 pin connectors. Also, it would be great if you could specify which part of the cable goes into what

You could try to get it replaced, but honestly CX series should be entry level use.
Something from XFX, Antec, Seasonic, or EVGA would be a good replacement.

Alright, thanks for the help. Do you think I should upgrade to a better psu, or just use the replacement plan I have on this one?

Likely the PSU was at fault.

Also, do you know why I had to do
that for my old gpu?

Tomorrow I'll be running into the store to try some different cables. Good thing I have a replacement plan for the psu.

I would try to use a different PSU, or a different GPU. Something isnt right with your PSU. The CX lineups of PSUs run lower end caps, so it simply could be the psu.

Sadly, no luck. Also, my last card required only an 8 pin, and the only way I could power it was by using 2 8 pins with 6 pins on the ends, and connect 2 of the 6 pins to an 8 pin conjunction and plugging that in. For some reason now, plugging them in the way they are supposed to does not do anything.
Also, could this have anything to do with my power supply?

6+2 pins is essentially the same thing as an 8 pin. Try a different 6 pin, or two 6+2 pins (leave the +2 off on the second one)

That is my problem. I didn't get any direct cables for my psu. Closest thing I received were 2 8 pin to 2 6+2 pin connectors. When I try connecting a 6+2 on one of the cables and just 6 on the other, it doesn't receive power

Well, you have a 8 and 6 pin connectors on the card.
So plug in one 8 pin and one 6 pin from the PSU.
