GPU upgrade, crossfire vs top end card?
Hello and thank you for viewing and possibly helping me with my gaming GPU problem.

I have a 2-year old build;

i5-2500k @3.30Ghz (built in over clock)
8G corsair vengeance RAM
Radeon HD 6970 2GB (not made anymore)
http://
mother board: P8 P67-PRO
OCZ 850 W power supple
120 SSD
500 G harddrive

I would like to boost my GPU performance. Should/can i buy a 2nd 697 radeon and run in crossfire? will my PSU be able to handle that? I wish to keep this build for another year maybe 2 so I will be upping the RAM, and need to up the GPU.

I appreciate your help thank you.

Get a 780ti its the best single card GPU.

You can get a GTX 780 on that budget or R9 290.
Or you can add a bit and get GTX 780ti or R9 290X. You will be awesome then.

I think a 780Ti would definitely outperform two GTX 760s.

you can support any GPU which will physically fit, so choose the best you can afford.

would any of you suggest a card? should i go to a 4g card? I have a huge tower so no problems with physical size. $400. is max. not sure if i should even spend that since im still running a i5-2500k...

Agree, choose the highest GPU that you can afford before doing crossfire.
