Hello good sirs
So I'm building my friend a new gaming PC and after min-maxing everything we have come to a budget that can be maxed out by either the 760 or 285.
Both of these cards cost the same here, 760 being maybe ~3-4 bucks more expensive.
Cards I'm looking at are the Gygabite 760 and the Sapphire 285 non OC since the OC one costs more and I can do that pretty easily anyway.
And would any of these be bottlenecked by an i3-4160?
Thank you in advance

Oh guys best believe if the case was to be I would have bought the 280x without asking questions. But here, the 280x is almost 70-80$ more expensive than both cards.
Btw, like a fool I forgot to check the price of the 280. And it seems to be 30$! cheaper ( the sapphire and the gygabite one at least ) than both 760 and 285.
Would the 280 perform better or at least on par with both of the aformentioned cards? And if I wouldl buy this 280 one, would I need a 600W PSU? ( gonna get either the 520W from Seasonic or the 620 version )

Look at the benchmarks linked by i7baby above.
There are four benchmarks on that page and the R9 285 manages to beat the GTX 770 in only one of them, one is the same and the GTX 770 is faster in two of them.
Here it is again:

Look at the review of the 285 from Tom's Hardware. The R9 285 sits above the GTX 760 in every game, and average performance is 13% higher.
I'm comparing to the GTX 770 and you are comparing to the GTX 760. My mistake since the original post is for the GTX 760.

The core i3-4160 may limit you in some games (e.g. multiplayer battlefield 4 or world of warcraft). The GTX 760 is faster than the R9 285.
The older R9 280X is the same speed as the R9 285, but has an extra 1GB of VRAM so I would buy this over the R9 285 if the same price.
The R9 285 is slightly faster than the GTX 760, not the other way around. And the R9 280X is significantly faster than both, it's on par with the GTX 770. If you want extra VRAM, look at the R9 280. Its performance is practically the same as the 285.
