Something wrong with my display. help please!
Hi, I have a AMD RADEON HD 6850. My monitor suddenly started to display horizontal black and multicoloured lines. The furthest it got was the windows login screen. After i login, my monitor displayed a black screen. However, when i boot into safe mode, everything worked fine. I've done a bit of research and found out that it may be the driver's problem. I uninstalled the amd display driver from both the device manager and AMD catalyst install manager. I rebooted my computer and again, everything worked fine. However, when i reinstalled the drivers i downloaded from AMD's website, the same problem occured again. Any idea how to solve this????

It sounds like your graphics card has died. I did have a card go like this once. It worked fine through the BIOS post and then just turned into blocks of colour in Windows.

When the drivers are installed, i can't get pass the windows login screen. After i login it only displays a black screen. The black and multicoloured lines appears at the windows login screen. I've tried connecting my laptop to the monitor and it works fine so it is definitely not the monitor issue. This is really frustrating :(

In safe mode or with no proper drivers installed, the card is probably running at a lower resolution.
You could try forcing the resolution down with the drivers installed.

Best thing to do is to try the card with a different monitor if you can, or try a different computer with the same monitor.
This should show whether the card or the monitor is the issue.
