There is no point upgrading to gtx 980, the 780 ti will last you over 3 years. If you haven't bought either of the graphic cards yet, the best choice would be the gtx 980, but if you already have a gtx 780 ti, no point upgrading because the gtx 780 ti kick ass! it just sucks for all those who bought the gtx 780 ti and then had the 980 released. But like i said gtx 780 ti was the best graphic card out there before 980 was released, newer graphic cards will always come out, just buy them at the correct time so you won't feel bad.

What are you guys trying to prove?
There is absolutely no reason to upgrade from a GTX 780Ti to a GTX 980.
The 980 is a lower power consumption card, sure, but that doesn't make the 780/780Ti card crap.
The 780Ti is still one of the best cards in the market, and anyone upgrading it to get a 980 is a plain idiot.

the 980 is about 100 euros cheaper than a gtx 780ti. sure is has better performance, but its only about 5 - 10% better. ive already had fun with my card for about 6 months and im not going to upgrade, its simply not worth it. and the new features of the 900 series are not that good anyway. all it has going for it is lower power consumption.

Umm, Just gonna say that these other replies are bull. Watch the linustechtips video where they review the GTX 980, it's about 5 Percent faster than a 780 Ti when both overclocked. Whoever said the 970 is better than a 780 Ti has some sort of mental issue. A 970 when OC'd to 1500 MHZ is comparable to a STOCK clock 780 Ti. You basically have a GTX 980, without the features. Your GTX 780 Ti is one of the best on the market. Keep it. Wait for the real Maxwell cards the 20nm ones. I'm holding on to my 780 SLI until then.
thank you

The biggest feature improvements of note for the new GTX 900 cards are much lower power consumption, less heat, quieter card, much higher number of ROPs to make AA and AA related graphic settings easier to perform. Of course increased performance. Several other smaller things also. The 780Ti isn't a bad card, but the Nvidia GTX 970 most people would say is a better card, especially after its overclocked.
"The 780Ti isn't a bad card" are you having a laugh, it's bloody brilliant, one of the best cards on the market. That must be the understatement of the century.
haha yeh. But is it true? the gtx 970 is better than an overclocked gtx 780 ti??
