Graphic card Problems
I found an extra graphics card laying around and was going to add it to my comp as a dedicated phys-x card. My main card is a GTX 285, and the one i found is a geforce 9800 GX2. So i wanted to test it first, and pulled the 285 out and put the 9800 in by itself. powered the computer up and all the lights and fans on the card came on but the dvi port didnt work. so i tried the other dvi port just to see what would happen and still no signal to the monitor. so then i tried the hdmi port and plugged it into my tv and it did work.

so my question is does it mater that the dvi ports dont work? can i still use it as a dedicated phys-x card since it powers up and works with the hdmi port. and 2, is there a way to troubleshoot/fix the dvi ports?

Thanks for any help.

Ok thx, i kinda figured it would be fine that way, since it worked with the hdmi port. and yes the DVI cable works fine because its the one im currently using for the 285 card.

Since you're using the Geforce 9800 GX2 card as a dedicated Physx card, you won't have to worry about displaying any video signals since all the card will be used is physic calculations on the cores.

Just make sure your computer has an adequete PSU though. Have fun with your new physx card.

I'm not entirely sure if there is a way to fix the DVI ports. Now it is always possible that the cable itself has issues but I'm assuming your DVI cable works perfectly fine.
