which one is better gtx 770 or r9 280x? both are around $250 and thats about the max amount of money i am planning to spend on a gpu.
also do you guys think that the prices of the 280x are going to go down now that the nvidia products cost less?

To anwser your question, It depends on which games you'd play more... If your going to be playing DA3, BF, Battlefront 3... (AMD based games) Than go with the 280x, as it has mantle and it will slurp up some more performance with games that have mantle.
The 770 is a great choice for just solid performance, along with Shadowplay.. and other Nvidia features.
As far as which is better... I'm going to go with the 280x for pure performance longevity, as most 280x's have 3gb vram which comes nice when your playing with higher resolutions or mods.

I'd go for the gtx 770. they both have about the same performance. but the gtx770 draws less power, runs cooler etc.also, if I may advise you. it wouldn't be a bad idea to spend some more money to get a gtx 970. the price/performance rating is absolutely amazing. it's enarly as good as a 600?$ gtx 780ti and it corsts around 330$. it would be a very good investment.
but, the gtx 770 is quite a good card aswell. but if you look at price per performance, you should go for a 970.
i know it maybe a better investment, but its $80 dollars more. i am already spending more than i was planning. if i choose either or those 2(280x, 770). my build would be around 850 including tax and OS, also optical drive. i was planning to spend only 800.
