The GTX 970 just launched in India at 28000INR (~460$). Can I expect the price to come down to 20-22k INR within a year if AMD launches competitively priced cards?

GTX 970 you may get for 26k easily now as well but it is unlikely to drop price so soon as the stockists have previous generation cards piled up as well and they want to clear that before any price reduction in fact they would be asking Nvidia to increase the price of GTX 970 and 980 so they dont loose money see here flipkart increased this GTX 970 to 28.5(instock now) for zotac and msi was 32k

Sorry if you are asking 1 year down the line a GTX 970 will be obviously cheaper 1 year is a very long period my friend in the life of a GPU when R9 series was launched we were happy with its price performance now no will buy it but yes you can safely assume prices will be 30-40% cheaper in a year...

Yes they are selling like hot cakes GTX 970 is the best value for money cards available in the market I am sure AMD will have to bring down the prices for 290X and 290 to 28k and 24k soon , flipkart listed ZOtac 970 at 28000 and then it was sold out soon and not listed again you can buy it locally though here is reference article on pricing of cards in India you may read it if you want to,
