Building a PC
Hello. New to pc-building
Been researching a bit, and found these parts for my pc-build. Any thoughts on downgrades/upgrades within the budget?

ok. Downgraded the ssd to 120gb, and took your advice on psu and motherboard. The prize was sat down on 16gb ram so literally no difference in 8gb and 16gb ram. wanna keep the case, bc of the looks.

Here the gigabyte geforce gtx 980 https://www.komplett.no/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-4gb-ph...

Any major reasons why i should buy that instead of asus 980?

Im actually talking about this GTX 980 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=... i guess they dont have it, anyways go with EVGA then, they have the best customer service.

I would get a cheaper mobo

https://www.komplett.no/msi-z97-gaming-5-socket-1150/81... Motherboard

PSU https://www.komplett.no/xfx-proseries-xxx-edition-850w-... its cheaper and has more wattage so you will never have to worry about not having enough wattage.

Case: https://www.komplett.no/fractal-design-define-r4-black-...

GPU https://www.komplett.no/evga-geforce-gtx-980-4gb-physx-...

If you can get a G1 Gaming GTX 980 by Gigabyte. cuz i cannot find it in the site.

One of the nicest things about the 980 is that it comes with the stock cooler, which in this case is overkill for the paultry 170w of the 980, meaning it's ridiculously cool and quiet, while venting all hot air out the back. The 970 is even with a GTX 780, the 980 is even with a 30% overclocked 780 ti.

Looking at your case, I'm going to say that 1000 of whatever currency that's using is roughly equal (little more buying power, even) to $100, so...

1) You don't need that big of a power supply. If you plan on adding a second graphics card in the future, fine, but if not, a 550w PSU is more than enough even for a rig with the 980.

2) I find that there's no reason for a 240GB SSD - if you have a second drive to put games on (since they get very very little benefit from being on a SSD), then a 120GB drive leaves you with about 60GB (after windows 8.1) to put games on.

3) No need to get 16GB of ram, seriously. 8GB is going to be WAY more than enough - it will run more than 100 tabs in google chrome opening at once, or work on a photoshop project while you have battlefield and 30 tabs in chrome open.

4) Finally, no reason to buy an i7 - there is virtually no difference between it and an i5 for gaming.

He wasn't saying to buy a cheap PSU, he was saying there's no reason to buy that one.

Seriously though, OP, that PSU is ridiculous overkill.

A 500w unit would serve you fine - the XFX 550w is probably the best cheap option.

suggest not going 'cheap' on a psu (buy a reliable one in proper wattage), a crap PSU can fry your entire rig... case.. just look at the enermax ostrog.

save the money for now on the cooler.
