Hey guys I'm thinking of building a new gaming PC. I want it to be sufficient to play most new games for at least the next 2 - 3 years at close to max setting at 1080p. That being said i don't have an extravagant budget. So far I've thought of this :-
->AMD FX 8350
->GTX 980
->Cooler Master HAF 912
->ASUS M5A97 Motherboard
->G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) [2133]
->Transcend 128 GB SSD
Will this satisfy my needs? Also I need advice on the power supply I'll need to buy for this build. If you have any suggestions to change things in the build please keep in mind that i have to stick to this budget
Thank You!

Thanks a lot jijomathew!! This is perfect! Assuming the 970 is enough to last me a while?Yep it can max out everything on 1080p for a while and 970 sli later make your system to perform well in nextgen games.This choice is made for another one with limited budget,you can get an Asus sli ready mobo and corsair RM series PSU and shop during Diwali deals
Then this is perfect! Thank you so much
GTX 980 and GTX 970 now available on flipkart

CPU:http://www.snapdeal.com/product/intel-core-i54460-proce... (Rs.11878)
Mobo:http://www.amazon.in/Asus-B85M-K-LGA1150-Socket-MotherB... (Rs.5399)
Ram:http://www.flipkart.com/corsair-vengeance-ddr3-8-gb-2-x... (Rs.7799)(or grab sibgle 8gb module if you don't care the latency-Rs.5500)
PSU:http://www.flipkart.com/corsair-vs650-650-watt-psu/p/it... (Rs.4032)
GPU:http://mdcomputers.in/zotac-graphics-card-gtx-970-4gb-d...(Rs.29999)
PSU I mentioned is less of cost but I recommend something from flipkart like RM750 or GS700(corsair)

Games will utilise multiple cores, and BF4 has started already, Crysis 3 too I believe, but by multiple threads it means an dual core even. If you have a modern dual core, it'll play stuff as well as a old quad core with a lower clock speed, unless you're comparing between Intel and AMD. Intel has better singular core performance generally, but AMD does it fine, and sell more cores for less. The more cores helps with multiple applications at once more than a single game.

You're probably not going to reach that RAM speed with an FX CPU for a start, what exactly is your budget? I reckon you could shuffle it about and get an i5 and a GTX 970.My budget is around $1200, cheaper preferably though
You actually could get an i5 4690k, Z97 board and a GTX 980 build for that
Someone told me games may start using more than four cores in the future...more than anything i need this build to be "future proof"
