ASUS Strix GTX 970 or Gigabyte G1 970 Gaming? Narrowed it down.
Don't tell me MSI, I am just done with their quality control.

Msi doesn't build a bad product. Neither does Asus or Evga. Out of the 3, well in general really, EVGA has the best customer service and support, then Asus, then MSI. What it boils down to is 'do I think I will need that service dept.' While the products themselves may not be bad, its always possible to get a lemon, 1 small faulty capacitor and the gpu don't work and the gpu manufacturer isn't really to blame for that, its the capacitor builder who happened to make 1 crappy cap out of millions.

What I'm saying is if you want the MSI, go for it, it'll perform somewhere around the same as any other, however, in the unlikely event that it craps out, you will probably have a more frustrating time with RMA than you would if you had bought either the Asus or Evga and they had crapped out

Honestly, everyone has personal preferences. Some people swear by MSI, others swear it. I would personally go for the Asus card but I heard that the MSI is clocked a bit faster. I couldn't care less though.

So should I keep the MSI order or just cancel it? I still have a few days before it actually ships (They said next Monday).

If you can picture 2 old guys sitting around a work bench, surrounded by odds and ends, with an old wall phone and 30' springy cord, You not be far off the mark for msi's service dept. 1/2 of the time you'll get the answering machine explaining that everybody is otherwise busy, or out in a meeting. In other words, the boys went to Hooters for a long lunch.

I don't know of any specific problems they are having now but they don't have very good customer support.

Can anyone explain the problem with MSI right now? I know they're having problems with their fans, but i'm not too updated with the info atm. If it really is that bad, i'll cancel my pending order right now and switch to the STRIX.

Unanimous.

Based on recent reviews, the ASUS STRIX and EVGA ACX 2.0 seem to be the most reliable models available, but the ASUS STRIX is smoking the competitors in quality right now.

I agree with your MSI statement above, which is why I would choose the Asus Strix as the QC is very high and I have heard too many horror stories about Gigabyte.

Be advised, my above statement is obviously partial. No need to flame.
