Are your drivers up to date? Try a cmos reset. I had some kind of similar issue a few years ago, and that fixed it.

Windows should show recommended resolution, when you change resolution with it.

nope it always give me a frequency out of range error when i try a resolution close to the native 1920x1080 that i should see .. whenever i connect to the integrated graphics the 1920x1080 is there but when i use back the graphics card it is no longer there any more..

If at all possible, go with a Haswell pentium and an H81 board. That will at least give you some upgrade options to current hardware.

thanks for the suggestion but those are crazy expensive in jamaica .. everything above h61m and the amd boards are like $160 in your currency and stuff .. besides i need the pc urgently and will just do a upgrade later on .. do you know how to fix that resolution problem i just mentioned ?

oh and i am using a dvi to vga adapter because my monitor vga and my card is dvi

That card will be fine for playing games at lower settings and resolution.

No you will not be playing BF3 with that GPU, regardless of CPU. The Pentium will be better than the Core 2 duo, thats for sure, though.

What is your resolution. This will determine the settings you can play on.

The PEntium will be better in the long run after you add a GPU. I would get the Pentium. MUCH better upgrade path and it will perform better once a GPU is added. But, neither of these will play games until a GPU is added, but I recommend the Intel build for sure. Your RAM and HDD will work fine.

i have a radeon 4850 1gb version am aware of the okd direct x10.1 but i have to say the card still performs great even with the old build i had before .. i was wondering if i could put battlefield 3 on ultra with the pentium ? i was able to go to high settings with core 2 duo but since the pentium is supposed to a bit faster can it pull it off until save the money to get a new i5 which cost an arm and a both legs
