Sound Card(Xonar DX) covering half of 1 GPU fan(ASUS 280X).
I have recently bought a Xonar DX sound card.

Now i have a problem with a extension sound card PCI.e x1.

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 Mobo with a ASUS R9280X-DC2T-3GD5.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=...

As you can see on the Mobo image there's a slight problem:
The GPU covers already 1 PCI.e x1 slot on it's own. And the other x1 slot my Sound card goes in front of the fan(half of it, as the Xonar DX is pretty low profile).

Now my question is: Are you able to put a x1 extension card into a x4 bay?(the one next to it).
Theoretically i thought it would be fine but i want some confirmation if it is practically possible.

If it's not possible, is it a problem for the sound card to cover half of the inner fan(from the back of the card pov) of the GPU?

YES, a PCIe x1 device will defiantly work in ANY PCIe slot, x4 included.
