Need Help Choosing a Monitor!
So, I'm finally building a new rig, as my old iMac finally kicked the bucket for good. Since it was an iMac, I'm going to need to buy a monitor. I've already decided on an IPS monitor, as TN doesn't have anywhere near the color accuracy I need. I want to use the monitor for a lot of gaming, but it also has a high likelihood of being used for map-making and photo editing, so good viewing angles and colors are important. I need only find a IPS monitor that has the least amount of ghosting and response time possible. I might also need one that is height adjustable, or at least some guidance on whether to go with height adjustment or a stand.

I'm also stuck on all of the different coating types for monitors. Glossy might not work that well because of how many windows are in the room where my computer will be, but it is also very clear and vivid. And there's all of the different kinds of coatings, with matte and AG and different hardness for each one and semi-glossy and its all very daunting when searching for a good one. Throw on top of that the necessity for a good set of speakers, a microphone and a webcam because all of that stuff was built into the previous machine, and everything starts to pile up. I'm not sure how much stuff I should look for in the monitor itself, if I should focus on getting good connectivity, if I should try and get built-in speakers (they'll be rarely used, so I'm not sure about spending a lot on desk speakers), if I should try and find a decent desk microphone or get a webcam with a high quality mic (if such a thing exists), or anything, really.

So, I know that's a lot of stuff, but I haven't had to buy a computer monitor in ten years, so I'm pretty out of the loop. If it helps at all, I do have at least one recommendation from someone I know.

How good would something like this be? I've heard conflicting reports about the thickness of the anti-glare coating on it and am remaining apprehensive. I also don't have a lot of particularly good shops near me where I can see monitors in person except for Best Buy, so chances are I'll be forced to make a blind purchase, so I'd like as much external info as I can get. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I want to be as secure as possible before I drop hundreds of dollars onto a monitor.

Well I found this:

The ASUS VX279Q is better in two ways:

1. Cheaper
2. The VX279Q is AH-IPS

Advanced High Performance IPS (AH-IPS) - Improved colour accuracy, increased resolution and PPI, and greater light transmission for lower power consumption.

I'm using a 24" 1080p and is really good for me. Bigger the screen lower the PPI.

Go for the ASUS VX279Q:
