gtx 980, reference or no reference?
I'm planning on getting a new gtx 980 by the end of the year and i was just wondering if its better to get a non reference card or if there is much difference. I just love the reference design and would like to get it if there isnt much difference

well it depends reference is the base designed card . non is the cards with the aftermarket add ons like custom coolers and oc versions

if the reff card and the aftermarket card are clocked the same all you may gain is the maybe a better cooler of it may have Samsung memory used in it and not elpida or hynex

it all comes down to doing the homework on that card and choosing the card that loks to fit your needs and expectations. and with that theres no guarantees that the card you get could be the lemon.

all you can do is the best you can and hope for the best

The only difference is going to be the reference clocks vs factory OC, and then the type of cooler, so blower vs fans. Either work well with the blower throwing more hot air out of the case and the fans cooling the GPU slightly better. The reference design is really great, and you can OC well above what the factory does. Reference sounds like the way to go for you. Unless you see something else you like.
