SLI Gtx 980: EVGA SC vs. G1 Gaming
Hey guys,

first world problems...

I managed to send my r9 295x2 back with an almost full refund and decided to go for 980gtx SLI.

So what to do now?
(Storm trooper case)

EVGA has this sweet 5 years warranty thing but my retailer here in Austria has it only on "pre-order". I called and they said the first shipment ist about to come in 2-3 weeks and they say that should definitly preorder cause they know 4 sure that theyll never have enough to supply the demand. So theres no guarantee I get it after those 2 weeks.
Also: reference design > custom design because of heat-rear-exhaust?! Does that really matter with 3x120mm intake and 2x140mm outtake on top and 140mm rear?!

Gigabytes G1 gaming runs 10C cooler, looks sweet and a different store has it in like ~3 days.

Also I've got my baby insured, so warranty after 3 years isnt even that much of a problem, unless i decide to throw my tower out of the window or take it into the shower.. or something..

I dont plan to Oc them for now and both factory oc's are quite nice already.

Please guys, give me your opinions/thoughts and thanks in advance!!

actually the gigabyte one has some pretty awesome specs, if you want a quiet and awesome looking graphics card get the asus:p

suggest waiting, so many of these cards are duds its unbelievable such as mine. many are having output issues and coil whining problems that theres just no point in risking you time over it. BTW if i wee you id go for the g1---> super overclocked out of box, great cooler, beautiful design, nice windforce light up design ;)  but runs a little longer length wise. i just warn you to wait a month or two for new stock to switch in

It seems to me your best choice would be Gigabyte's 980. As you stated yourself it runs 10C cooler, looks sweet and a different store has it in about 3 days. Heres a video comparing each companies cards, and from the video Gigabyte seems to be the favorite.

Both brands are considered good although EVGA support is considered one of the best in the business Gigabyte is a major company as well with good reputation.

Well mainly because I dont want to make a 1200bucks decision based on which one is faster at my doorstep :D

Other Reasons could be:
Because maybe there are some issues with either card, that are not easily googled. Or RMA Experiences with either brand are good/bad. Or simply personal experiences etc. :)
