Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming vs windforce oc
Hello everyone I was looking at those two Gigabyte cards and GTX 970 G1 gaming seems to be slightly better but I'm not so keen to spend another £20-25 for slight improvement. GTX 970 G1 Gaming is clocked at 1178Mhz and Windforce OC is clocked at 1114Mhz. Could you guys please tell me if ther will be a big difference in terms of performance in games between those two cards?
Will it be more than 1-2fps?

Thanks for answering :)  :)  :)

I would love to get the one with a backplate but I'm on a budget so spending extra £25 for looks and very minimal improved performance is a bit silly for me.

I thought MSI GTX 970 looks a bit better from the side.

How do you know the cheaper GTX 970 from Gigabyte is missing 2 heatpipes? I was looking at some websites and they didn't state anything like that.

The only two that come with a backplate fitted (to my knowledge) are the Gigabyte Gaming G1 and the ASUS STRIX and then you can claim a free back plate with the purchase of any of EVGA's GTX 970's but you have to fit it yourself. I'm actually having this dilemma myself lol, the Gigabyte Gaming G1, ASUS STRIX or the EVGA SSC? :p

I'd actually say ~£25 is worth it for a nice backplate and I did totally forget about the Gaming G1 having a backplate.

saw some images of the Gigabyte Windforce 970, they kinda cheap out on it on some parts, it has the same metal shroud but it doesn't have the back plate. It is also missing the glow + its missing 2 copper heat pipes.

As for your choice though, its either the gigabyte or evga for me, I hate the new Strix design Asus is trying to pull xD

I LOVE the look of the STRIX lol :p  I think I'm edging towards the EVGA though to be honest, how hard is it to fit a backplate lol? :p

ummm thats why I said above if your choosing between the 3, I would go Gigabyte(because it has a backplate) or EVGA (again because you can put a backplate in it) lol... Dick.

Er... did you mean to call me a dick? I think you read that the wrong way and I was genuinely asking how hard it is to fit a backplate, not bitchingly saying 'how hard is it to fit a backplate!?" lol :p

What I can confirm though is that,

G1 Gaming:

inside the box only has the
+Epic box
+card
+ 2 cheap 2molex to 8 pin connector
+ a black and white manual
+Card full metal back plate and shroud
+new Fans
+and its 23-24 pounds more expensive give or take
+I have 2 right now but have yet to install it

Windforce OC

not sure whats inside
+23-24 pounds cheaper
+no backplate
+I am pretty sure it uses the same metal shroud the G1 uses but with different fans.
+I am not sure how heavy of an overclocker it is
+rightnow its an exclusive and only being sold by Scan atleast here in the UK.

In the other hand the MSi's GTX 970 Gaming 4G

+Epic box
+card with a nice shroud sadly it is made of plastic
+no back plate
+has faceplate
+very good Overclocker, can compete with the G1 Gaming
+it has 1 x 8 pin extender, very well made and sleeved and it doesnt use the ugly molex
+you get 1 big mouse pad with the MSi card image on it
+Magazine finish manual
+Magazine finish Brochure
+CD Driver installer
+originally was only £269, but right now so many people are buying it that it increased to £289+
