What is DDR5 used for primary?
I have a GTX 760 2GB DDR5 version, and i was thinking of upgrading to 4GB version. Would there be any advantages to this? It also dawned on me that I don't really know how this graphics memory is used; beyond what scope in PC gaming would 2GBs of DDR5 be ideal?

No as the gpu chip itself won't fully utilize the 4GB VRAM. The 4BG GTX 770 is justifiable but not he GTX 760 4GB. There is no noticeable difference between them really at 1080p. An upgrade from GTX 760 is a GTX 970.

More VRAM is used for higher resolution textures and higher resolutions in general. Only a minority of games are able to saturate 2GB GDDR5 @ 1080p as of now but now would be a good time to jump on the 3GB or 4GB bandwagon in my opinion, that's not to say you need to and I definitely wouldn't be upgrading to a 4GB version of the same card I already have.
