I just bought a 20" inch hdmi Samsung. The monitor has two ports, vga and hdmi.
However, monitor cannot detect signal with hdmi. I have tried connecting the cable to my r9 270x, , my old 9800gt, and integrated card, but no luck.
Before I suspect the faulty cable, I'd like to know if my pc lacks driver or other utilities or bios setting before hdmi takes effect.
I have upgraded bios and graphic driver but no change. Any help would be appreciated.

He is using DVD-D to HDMI adapter that means DVI port is working. You mean DVI-D?
Yes. The hdmi port doesn't work. So the problem is not driver or compatibility issue.
I was just replying to another post on this thread. You could be using either of DVI ports depending upon availability.

I'm using a DVI-D to HDMI adapter, and it works! Yes, the problem is the HDMI port on my vga card. Now I realize how hdmi is. Before, there were horizontal white flashings on the screen while playing Skyrim. Now there are none.
Ok, but i have had it for over 2 years no issues nothing why would hdmi work and vga but no dvi?
