need help with hdmi
I just bought a 20" inch hdmi Samsung. The monitor has two ports, vga and hdmi.

However, monitor cannot detect signal with hdmi. I have tried connecting the cable to my r9 270x, , my old 9800gt, and integrated card, but no luck.

Before I suspect the faulty cable, I'd like to know if my pc lacks driver or other utilities or bios setting before hdmi takes effect.

I have upgraded bios and graphic driver but no change. Any help would be appreciated.

He is using DVD-D to HDMI adapter that means DVI port is working.

You mean DVI-D?

Yes. The hdmi port doesn't work. So the problem is not driver or compatibility issue.

I was just replying to another post on this thread. You could be using either of DVI ports depending upon availability.

I'm using a DVI-D to HDMI adapter, and it works! Yes, the problem is the HDMI port on my vga card.

Now I realize how hdmi is. Before, there were horizontal white flashings on the screen while playing Skyrim. Now there are none.

Ok, but i have had it for over 2 years no issues nothing why would hdmi work and vga but no dvi?

Thanks. I'll try to return it since I might need the port for higher res monitor should I buy one.

If card is in warranty, claim the warranty over the issue.

That would depend upon the resolution at which you are currently playing and your future res requirement. If it is 1080p then you can stick with this GPU, however if you would be playing at much higher res than 1080p or even 1440p then digital output would be required.
