MSI Gtx 970 VS ASUS Gtx 780 POSEIDON
I'm deciding whether I should get the GTX 780 Poseidon or MSI GTX 970. In some cases the 970 performs better than the 780 in benchmarks, and vice versa with the 780. Also they say that the 780 has better overclocking potential which can outperform the GTX 970. What makes it really hard is that they're around the same price on Newegg. So which should I get?

The Poseidon is an amazing card with what ASUS has done with it, a really first class job with the WCing of the core. Yet I would not give up the performance advantage of the 970 over the 780 just because of that unless I had an existing loop to plumb it into, even then it would be a very hard choice.

At a similar price point of the 2 cards now it would be a difficult argument to support any potential advantage of OCing the 780 to compete with the 970 I would think, but many use this train of thought in comparing performance, I generally just look at what a card can do stock or perhaps factory OC. With that said the GM204 is a better core than the GK110 of the 780 by most any measurement from FPS to power consumption, my recommendation would be the 970.

The 970 is faster, runs cooler, uses less power than the 780 and has new technologies built into it at around the same price, what was the question again? :)

GTX 970 all the way.
Simply because it is stronger by 15%+,therefore it will give more FPS.
And at the same time,it is more power efficient,it stays cooler,it is less noisy and it's a better overclocker than the GTX 780.
