Hey guys fairly new here,
Just wanted to know what you guys think about the build I'm going for, if its compatible, and if there is anything significant I should change or swap in. I'm trying to keep it under $1400 if possible though I'm beginning to think that isn't possible.
In particular, I'm not sure if its worth getting a slightly older Mobo that has 2400 RAM ability, or getting newer 1600 RAM mobo.
Any help is appreciated!

Components are listed below:
Mobo: ASRock Z97M Anniversary Motherboard - $112.00
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB - $519.00
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790 - $359.00
Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 Mid Tower Gaming Case - $75.00
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB SSD -$75.00
HDD: Western Digital WD Green 2TB WD20EZRX -$95.00
PSU: Thermaltake Smart Power 650W 80 Plus Bronze -$95.00
RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast KHX24C11T3K2/8X 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2400MHz -$109.00
sub-Total: $1439.00

This is better. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/y3pm7PEverything about it is better (the GPU is the same though) and its only $1200.
I swapped the i7 out for an i5 as there is no point in getting an i7 if you are just gaming.
Here is the case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Thanks, it does look a lot better. Also, does anyone know if there is an issue if i buy GFX card or components other than the PSU from America, if they will work in an Australian built machine? US has much cheaper parts, so I'm inclined to purchase from there.
It doesn't matter what country you buy them in as long as the parts are compatible in general.

If its just a gaming build, you only need an i5, the i7's additional threads in general don't benefit games. If you dont plan on overclocking, get a H97 board, if you do, get a K series chip.
Get a performance HDD, WD Greens are slower for no noticeable gain.

Better PSU for not much more.

This is just personal opinion, but that case is ugly as... If your getting an MATX board, I suggest getting an MATX case to match.
Everything about it is better (the GPU is the same though) and its only $1200.

Its a lot better if your American, a lot less relevant if your Australian like the OP is.
