GTX 680 SLI GPU Usage Drops No High Temps
Playing BF3.

i7 3930k OC 4.25
8GB Ram
ASUS Rampage IV Formula w/ latest bios flash
2 X GTX 680 SC SLI latest drivers
1000 Cooler Master PSU

Playing games with multiple map changes and then BAM at random times FPS drops from highs of 130-70 to a constant low rang of 20-35. Will not fix itself without a computer restart.

I used process explorer and precision X16 to monitor the temps and GPU usage.

Process explorer shows a nice high graph and then you can see the GPU usage plummet. The graph goes up and down but never gets higher than 40% GPU Usage. The graph basically shows my cards struggling their hardest to come back up and they just never make it. Below is the kicker and what has stumped me.

Temp Max= 55C That covers both cards.

I have seen the graph that shows the curve for the boost clock and how it down clocks at certain temperature ranges. This does not apply in my case from the graphs I saw linked from this website.

What do you guys think?

I think I solved this. I switched my GPU's in the computer. Just swapped places. BF3 runs at 160-130 FPS almost constantly. It ran for the entire day yesterday.

Re-seating a GPU(s) might be a quick fix for many people. Who knows. It's better than hours on end looking and praying for a solution and coming up empty handed.

Take care guys.
