He was asking about the FTW with ACX 2.0, not ACX 1.0 that you referred to. EVGA screwed themselves by coming out initially with 1.0 and now everyone thinks their coolers are flawed even though they updated it immediately to 2.0. They have way too many versions out now.
I myself am researching FTW vs. G1, and can't find a definitive answer. It might simply be that their both excellent. Here is Anandtech's review of the FTW:

EVGA card is defective

Looking at the board teardown, the construction of the MSI is far superior to the EVGA and Asus

On Guru3D both the MSI and Gigabyte both break 1500 Mhz ...an accomplishment echo'd in almost every review I have seen.... HiTech legion go 1567 which is the highest I have seen so far (on Guru3D Giga got 1516)
The MSI has a feature that runs the two fans independently which many peeps thought meant card was broken. It's NOT, it is designed to do that. MSI introduced the fan cutout when not required in 2008 but just with the 970's introduced the two fans working independently feature. On some early cards, the 2nd fan was not starting back up when temps rose .... my guess was some fan bearings are bit stiffer than others which seems logical as most of those who were affected resolved the issue by running the fan at full speed for an hour , upgrading the vBIOS or lowering the temp setting to start the fan at lower temps.
I don't think ya can go wrong with either but as you mentioned the aesthetic issue, the MSI would be the better visual match. Between the EVGA and Giga, I'd definitely take the Giga. The bit-tech review ranked them MSI > Asus > EVGA .... the greater performance of the MSI certainly makes sense when you look at the components and how they cooled them.
