Hi i'm looking to upgrade my PC. I looked into DDR4 and I decided that its not worth it for reasons of release price and I didn't find any information on compatibility with socket 1150. There is no need for a new CPU. Mine is less then a year old. I have been looking at the Asus Maximus VII Hero. I was in a computer store and the sales guy cringed at me when I told him I still had a Z87-A. If I go with the Maximus VII Hero will my G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600 be fine or should I get better RAM too? I'll upgrade my GPU after Christmas when the sales are on. My HD7950's are still holding out strong. If you need here are my specs.

I appreciate all your feedback but spending $700.00 or 1400.00 on new GPU is not an option til after christmas. My cards will still give me good, playable FPS for a couple months. I'm gonna keep thinking about it for now. Then, there is nothing to upgrade. Upgrade has been considered and delayed.
There is actually an upgrade coming but im going to do it without coming to forums for advice. Thanks anyways.

That is an awesome setup. your psu would be overkill for even a 3-way sli 980 setup. If you wanted to up anything, I would say get 2 980s asus strix are nice, or the gigabyte g1 gaming, both come with a backplate and a nice overclock from the factory. don't bother getting 3 , the performance increase does not scale that well from 2->3 gpus. with 2 of them, you could run a 4K monitor with decent not sure about >60fps constantly in newer games, but if not 4k. massdrop has currently an insane ultrawide LG 3440x1440 monitor for like $200 off MSRP https://www.massdrop.com/buy/lg-34um94-ultrawide-monito... it is amazing. The 2 980s would be more than capable at maxing games out at this resolution and giving very nice playable framerates

May I ask why you want to upgrade in the first place?I keep looking at the Maximus VII Hero over and over and the thought of buying it sticks in the back of my mind but I am really not anxious to remove all my components. Mostly because of the performance of the board and the features. I know I need better GPU's but im holding out on it for now.
