Alright, so here's my issue. my cpu randomly crashes and it seems to be linked to my usage of the internet, whether it's when I'm playing online games on steam, or watching videos on YouTube. I'm kind of nooby when it comes to pc's, and really need help. I'd give the specs of my machine if i knew how, which probably shows how much help i need. I've run my antivirus, and I've replaced my ram. the crashes are not blue screens or freezes, the CPU quits without warning and goes to a black screen in which i hear nothing but a single repeated sound. no idea if this helps but I've exhausted my limited knowledge on the matter. please help.

Lol -3 Ram that's awesome
Nothing to worry about it, not all info can be correctly obtained from every MB (could be what the controller is providing and what speccy has calculated incorrectly for your system)
Some MB Chip sets don't report voltages outside the bios screens, so programs don't have access to these extra features
Great to hear your system is running much better now
Chances are your GPU may still be over clocked.
Standard specs are http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Core 600mhz
Memory 1800mhz
Shader 1500mhz (from other websites)
You can use Overclocking tools to check current GFX Settings - (would not recommend to overclock more as you gfx is already running hot) if anything down clock it 10%
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-inspector-do...
http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm
As for lower profile CPU Coolers http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/low-profile-heat-sink-min...
Measure your space from the top CPU to case edge (or from MB to top of case -10mm) to get an idea of what will fit
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cooling/2014/02/03/dee...
Its smaller than a hyper 212, Easy traditional mounting (no MB removal required)
http://www.deepcool.com/product/cpucooler/2013-12/7_120...
Both these are better than the Stock CPU Coolers supplied with Intel Processors
Some cases let you access the other side of the MB for access to the back CPU (so you don't have to remove everything to install larger coolers that require a CPU back-plate)
A friend with a Deepcool i5cpu temps from 37c - 68c under load
Previous intel cooler was 54c - 91c

Good news, after cleaning the bugger out with canned air i got today, my temperatures are back down. games running smoothly, no crashes as of yet. i do plan to replace an unusable old fan in the back of the case to avoid this becoming a regular thing, but it seems that this has fixed my problem. i would like to thank the tom's hardware community, markkk especially for running me through things i thought i would never understand. i look forward to being an active member of the community as my knowledge of all things tech increases.

i know that my graphic card was overclocked at one point, but i believe that it was put back to normal long before it made it to my rig, and i have no clue how to overclock, so no worry of me screwing it up. if i were to check the bios, what would i do to find that out?
as for checking my PSU, i am staring at the motherboard page of speccy and i must be blind, can not see a PSU anywhere in it.

Also worth mentioning that there is not a lot of room in the PC. and looking at your comment, i have recently added ram to the rig, and now have four sticks in it, as opposed to my previous 2. is that causing the problem you mentioned? if so, is there a smaller fan that would work for it? as mentioned, case is nearly full.

Case air flow is an important factor of removing warm air so it does not get recycled around increasing system temps
Case location for adequate ventilation helps a tiny bit
Case fans have an arrow printed or etched/embossed on the actual fan showing direction of airflow.. or use a very technical instrument called a hand to feel air flow...
Front fans suck in air pushing air to the back of the PC. Rear fans push out air of the case
Also some motherboard have heat sinks surrounding the CPU so when you add ram causes a 1 Inch almost barrier meaning traditional fans that blow air down push hot air up and the cpu cooler pulls this hot air back into the cooling system
Here is an example http://www.google.co.nz/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww....
So a Standard Cooler and Fan will recycle hot air ... http://www.google.co.nz/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fregm...
You will need a Cooler like a Hyper 212 http://www.google.co.nz/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fmedi...
This cooler is HUGE, you need a fat case to put in it, but it's awesome. Require you to remove the MB to fit it correctly with a backing plate... there are cheaper knock off copies that also work well and fit like a traditional cooler
Wait hang on its your CPU temp that crashing your PC? Or GPU Graphics Card Temp?
Cooling a GFX card is a totally different story... but there are ways
