Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 512MB GDDR5 is it better for playing new games ............................???

Size and bandwidth aren't exactly a direct comparison.
The more memory the card has the more information, such as textures, the card can store locally rather then having to rely on the rest of the system. The speed of the memory effects overall bandwidth, how quickly the card can fill and empty that memory.
If you are looking at two different video cards, list them and your budget, and we can make recommendations.
