Crossfired GPUs in mismatched PCI-E slots. Cheapest fix?
Alright here's the thing - I have two Sapphire R9 270x cards running in crossfire. Here's my build - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pNL2zy

Ever since I set them both up, I've been having framerate problems in different games. In Assassin's Creed Black Flag my framerate is much smoother with all settings maxed than when I just used one card. But on most other games, Battlefield, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Watch Dogs, etc., my framerate is higher without crossfire. I searched for a long time and finally noticed something when checking readings with GPU-Z: my motherboard has one PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot, and one PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot running at x4.

I'm assuming that this is my problem and, yes, I know I was stupid for not checking before buying a second card, I thought I had two 3.0 slots, but I was wrong. Is there any kind of workaround I can do here? If not, I guess I'll be buying a new motherboard and cpu combo. Does anybody know what my cheapest option would be for a new combo that supports my RAM? I know it's extremely slow, but I would rather not have to buy a new motherboard, cpu, and 16 more GBs of RAM.

Again, I know I screwed up big time, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I spent last weekend dealing with AT&T's crappy internet service so I'm not in the mood to deal with more problems right now

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but theres no fix/workarouund other than buying a mobo that supports 8x/8x or better PCIE.

and while youre buying a mobo, you might aswell replace that poo-poo cpu with a decent intel quadcore. everything else looks reusable.

i like in kentucky, my ATT broadband is great. never goes out, always get 23-25mbit instead of the advertised 18mbit. used to have cable, and it was always crap no matter the circumstances.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Is there any mobo/cpu combo for 150-200 that you would recommend? I had originally bought my motherboard a while back when it was marked way down during a sale, and I went and found the most powerful fm2+ cpu there is and that's what I was stuck with. I'd like to have some powerful parts, but I just can't break the bank anytime soon.

I wish I had your connection! I live in Tennessee and AT&T has outages all the time in my area and the overall quality of the connection is terrible here
