Quiet GPU with no coil noise
I am been building a quiet mid-range gaming rig. I have been having trouble on settling on a GPU. All of the videocard that I had have an electrical coil noise that is quite annoying since I have my rig on my desk next to the monitor. The GPU fans are quiet but the coil noise is quite evident and its the loudest noise in my system.
The coil noise is constant even when idle and gaming.

I have already tried two XFX R9 280x and two MSI R9 280.
Any suggestions on a quiet GPU with similar performance or a R9 280x or R9 280? I am will to try Nvidia cards.

My PC Specs

Case: Fractal Design Define R4
Memory: 1600 Mhz Kingston Blue 8 GB (2x4GB)
CPU: AMD FX 8320
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master EVO 212
SSD: Samsung 250 GB EVO
HDD: WD Black 1 TB
GPU: MSI R9 280 3GB VRAM

Thanks in advance

I really wouldn't suggest that ^

Firstly its an older card which benefits less from new technology/software and will be seriously outdated soon.
Secondly with Quad SLI you have bandwidth issues on most motherboards (Basically each GPU can transfer less and less information as you use all the Pcie slots)
Thridly it will be louder and hotter in your case
Finally SLI always has issues. Whether it be connecting up, drivers or slow cross links.

A single card is ALWAYS better than SLI. You wouldn't need any more performance than a 760 to run games at decent graphics levels at 40-60 fps (or more) .

Make sure that the 'coil whine' is actually from the GPU not the Hard drive or PSU.

A decent replacement (price-wise) would be a GTX 760. Gigabyte and MSI both offer good cards, but most companies are a safe bet.
