H100i and Noctua fans
I'm going to be setting up a push pull confit with 4 Noctua NF-F12 PWMs. I just wanted to see if the H100i can power all the fans or what suggestions you guys/gals might have for powering this. My current case is NZXT Phantom (full ATX) currently using all the available case fans(140mm in front, 2, 120mm on door, 2 200mm on the top [these will come out with when I get the H100i] and a 140mm in the back) with a MSI M-Power mobo. I'm not using any of the fan headers on the mobo, The case has a fan controller. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Be aware that with the slower fans, the performance of the unit will drop by about 40%

Here we see that at 2200 rpm the ST30 removes 281 watts. Your speed change from 2700 to 1500 is 55% so a comparable speed for those graphs would be 2200 to 1200 which we can get by going half way between 1000 and 1400 which is 175. So your speed reduction will bring about 175/281 or 62%

Adding the 2nd fans will add 20% so 1.2 x 62% .... so you will have about 75% of the cooling capacity as you have now after spending $112 on fans. That's a ton of money for fans and though I can understand your motivation after listening to the h100i for a while .... that's $212 total investment.

Alternate suggestion .... For the same money....

Instead of popping for $112 on the fans, grab the Swiftech H220-X for $140.... its cools better than the H100i I while being 1/6th as loud .... anything you get over $28 for your H100i when ya sell it is profit..... better yet, the 240-X, then anything ya get over $38 is profit.

Other advantages .....

1. It's all copper / brass no mixed metals which promote galvanic corrosion (H100is is aluminum / copper)
2. You can open the loop and add blocks for GFX cards, MoBo, RAM,
3. It includes PWM splitter to handle your fan issue

Quote:
the H220X outperforms every CLC on the market, and does it at more than 20 dB quieter. ..... Installation of the H220X was very easy, probably the easiest liquid cooler I have ever done. .....

In terms of performance, well….we could simply leave it at the fact that the H220X is simply the best performing out-of-the-box cooler you can buy today. Period. It slightly betters its predecessor, the H220, as well as the Glacer 240L that is equipped with far more powerful and louder fans. The NZXT X60/61 comes close in terms of performance, but at the expense of far more noise and far less compatibility. 240mm CLCs can’t touch the H220X in all out performance, and at tolerable noise levels the H220X flat out embarrasses them. With all of this performance the H220X never topped 40 dB at full speed....[H100i approaches 70].

.... Putting it gently, choosing any CLC over the H220X would be doing yourself a huge disservice.

Yes the Noctua's are great fans but, as you can see here, they ain't the best and also, the Corsair's do pretty darn well to falling in just 1C behind the Noctuas....In other words the Corsair fans are good to, it's the high rpm that drives ya crazy and w/o that you don't get the performance

But if ya don't like the Swiftech idea, look at this

Here we see the Phanteks beating the Noctua's by 3C

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/phenteks_f140/3...

But they all 140 and you using 120 but same designs .....so

a) Spend $112 on the Noctua fans , or
b) Spend half that for the Phanteks.
