Upgrading computer, need help
I have been trying to find online how far my friend's computer can be upgraded. She has a Gateway DX-4710-301A computer. Her current specs are 6gb of ram, windows 7 home premium 32-bit, Intel Core 2 quad Q6700 2.66 Ghz, BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG, 300 watt PSU (im not sure what kind it is), 250Gb western Digital Sata II (product name: WD2500YS) Hard drive [she has 2 hard drives in her computer, can't remember the second one other than that its 160gb ram and a SATA II]. I am not sure about the heat sink she has either. If you need anymore information, please ask. Mainly im concerned with the CPU and PSU

budget is good enough. What does she plan to do on the PC?

she plans to game pretty much. She's gone from simple games to ones that limit her computer like skyrim or assassin creed brotherhood. Anything below doing that is browsing the web, netflix, social media, downloading files online. I just really do need an upgrade on the CPU as the top concern at the moment. I want something that is better than the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66 Ghz.

poor high school student- enough said. She just wants to see what the limit of the computer she has is. Better to see her options currently than to splurge on a new computer entirely. I forgot to mention she has an ASUS silent radeon 5450 graphics card. If you wanna recommend a good custom computer, then go for it, wouldnt mind seeing a good one, but the budget would be $700-500 preferably cheaper the better. But really, for this computer, i would like to know the limit of the CPU upgradeability

You should buy a whole new computer, preferably by parts. What's your budget?
