GTX 980 or wait for dx12?
So I have been planning an upgrade in graphics to my custom build for a month or so. My original plan was just to get a 2nd AMD HD 7950 to compliment the one I have. To do this, I needed a new motherboard with 2 pcie 3.0 x16 slots as well as a higher wattage PSU. I have already purchased the PSU and mobo and have been waiting to nail a good ebay auction for the 2nd 7950. In total, this plan will cost ~$320.

My other option, which I have just now begun to consider, is to return/resell the mobo and PSU, sell my current 7950, and get a GTX 980. When everything is sold and the Nvidia is purchased, this plan costs only around $280-$300.

I've been giddy with excitement after realizing that I'll be both saving money and getting a modern, more powerful Nvidia-based graphics setup with 20-30% more performance over 2x 7950s. However, in my research for GTX 980 performance benchmarks, I stumbled upon an article that mentioned that any modern graphics card will be outdated by 2016 because of the release of dx12 with Windows 10. That pretty much burst my bubble and I'm once again torn between the two options.

Thoughts/Opinions?

Specs...
Motherboard - ASrock z77 Pro4 (new one is ASrock z77 Extreme4)
CPU - i5 3570k
GPU - Gigabyte HD 7950 3GB
RAM - 8GB 1600mhz DDR3
PSU - Corsair 650w 80 Plus Bronze non-modular (new one is EVGA 1000w 80 Plus Platinum modular)
