Can this setup crossfire 2 Sapphire Radeon HD 6970s?
My setup:

Motherboard: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB 3
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition
RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 (2x)
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-Bit DDR5 (2x)
Cooling System: *to be updated soon*

I'm not too knowledgeable in CrossfireX. I want to crossfire the other 6970 with the already existing one. Can anyone tell me if my current rig will be able to handle it in terms of power output and the motherboard being able to actually supporting 2 GPUs? Also if someone could explain 8x8 and 16x16 that would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

That should be very doable. The x8, x8 lane PCIe slots will be fine for those 2 cards. They will not saturate the bandwidth of version 2 at x8 lanes. The PSU has adequate specs with its 56A, 672W (+12V) rail.

However, there is one fly in the ointment, as they used to say. The Thermaltake TR line is one of the poorest PSUs on the market. It is in the "not recommended" tier when it comes to gaming PSUs: https://community.newegg.com/eggxpert/computer_hardware...
It might be wise to get a better PSU before attempting that kind of load on it.
