Hello,
My monitor itself is LCD 1920x1080p, however, it is currently plugged into my PC. I want to connect my Xbox as well but without the hassle of having to remove cables from my PC. Therefore, my monitor has another port which allows VGA cables to be connected. My question: Can I connect my Xbox and use an HDMI cable to stream HD gameplay?

Check your xbox's video output settings.
"Quality" is a very open term, you might as well say "it looks bad"
Are you saying the resolution is low, refresh rate is low, colors are off, what is the issue, I need specifics to begin to help you.
Also model number of your items would be quite helpful, you have not even said if the xbox is a 360 or xbox one.

Sorry, I must have worded it wrong.
The high quality resolution that appears on my TV is not similar to when it is on my PC monitor even when I have set the Xbox to 1080p & I have also used a HDMI cable. When I switch my monitor to my Xbox, it dislays a message ssying HDMI, although the quality is not as good as when it is displayed on my TV.

You cant watch both at the same time, but with the press of a button you can switch from displaying the XBOX to the PC.
Manual one that requires you to push button on unit: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&c...

You mean, have a cable that has HDMI at one end and VGA at the other? No, that won't work.
VGA is capable of handling 1080p, but it's an analog signal, whereas the HDMI signal is digital. There is no adapter that you could use to convert VGA to HDMI cheaply. You need an active converter that requires its own power.
