Black screen on laptop
Hi all,

ASUS K55VD

problem occured as follows:

1) windows 8 reformatted it

3) prompted to reboot laptop

4) on boot up an error was shown saying i had a PXE-E61 fault (little bit of googling showed this to be a boot path problem, reasonably common after windows updates, fixed by going into BIOS and re-aranging the boot order.)

5) went into BIOS, to change boot options

6) changed to the hitachi HDD "save and exit".

7) Blank screen, fans run slowly, no POST beeps, no HDD LED flashing, just the battery and AC adaptor LEDs on.

At this point i carry out a hard shutdown with the power button, and try to boot into BIOS again, but again laptop will not boot up into anything, just a black screen with the power LEDs on, fans idling, and nothing else.

After all this I tried removing the HDD, ram everything that was possible really but the problem persists

Is this fixable?!

Try remove you laptop battery and see if your laptop will turn on using wall power. Then try reset bios it if turns on

If you feel you system is running only no display, power LED lit up and hear the hard disk or fan running but no display. Bring your laptop to a dark room and try find if you can see some image on the screen. Then screen brightness or could be screen defect.
