Hey all, I'm building a new desktop and have purchased an MSI Z97-G55 SLI motherboard. In preparation for the build, I went to the MSI site to get the latest bios, drivers, etc and only just noticed that the MSI software utilities are all built w/ .Net.
At the risk of starting a row, let me just say that it's personal preference not have .Net loaded on my computer. Call it an irrational aversion and leave it at that. If you love it, more power to you. I simply don't want it and am quite content living without it.
OK, that being said, can anyone suggest a comparable replacement for the MSI Z97-G55 SLI that doesn't require .Net to use the OEM utilities? Java would be acceptable I suppose but that's also something I would prefer to keep off my system. Again, that's just personal preference. I'm simply asking if anyone knows of comparable mobos that don't require .Net for the OEM utilities.
I don't need SLI support, if that helps (will only be using a single card, but one that probably serves more than one monitor though, like the GTX 770 4GB). I'd like 6 SATA connections and more USB3 than USB2 connections, and if there's Thunderbolt thrown in the mix that would be awesome too.
Thanks in advance for any responses that help identify suitable substitutes!

OK, so, for my and other readers here, please tell me what issues you have with the .net runtime and applications written in .net. Maybe you can make a few converts. a link would be fine if you don't want to type an entire essay. This is stupid. I asked a simple question and now I'm engaged off topic. This is exactly the kind of thing that drives me nuts about forums.
I'm not interested in converts or those who would proselytize. I'm simply looking for a motherboard from a manufacturer whose utility software doesn't require .Net. What is your favorite color? Why!? Do you know something I don't? Well, I know something YOU don't! Cripes, leave it out already.
If you don't have any knowledge of such mobos, please just say as much and leave your axe on the bench.

Classic. You'll use Windows but not .net. Enjoy your quest. I'm sure in a few years you'll be restricted to ancient hard- and software.Classic. A simple request for information and the quickest response is judgemental.
As it happens, I agree with you. I am heading towards Linux, but there are things not there yet so for the time being I'm stuck w/ Windows.
