Best CPU and GPU combo
Hey guys I'm building a gaming PC and I was wondering which combo is better:-

1. Intel i5 4440 with an r9 290x
2. Intel i5 4690 with an r9 280x

If I get the 4440 I can get a cheaper h87 mobo and then I'll be able to afford the 290x. So what do u guys think.

Thnx.

A gtx 970 is really good on power efficiency, cooling (Don't get EVGA's ACX model though, it has problems with the heatsink being misaligned), and it is extremely powerful for it's price, truly amazing job done by Nvidia, you can prove this by just checking the stock status of the gtx 970, a lot of them are sold out because it is such good value for money.

GTX 970 for the win!

I agree with the posters above. Money best spent on the GPU and the GTX 970 is perfect for that, but the 290x is also a great deal. Either way, if you have to fit it within your budget, lowering the CPU for a better GPU is a great trade-off.

Hi there,

Currently the best gpu you can buy for that kind of money is the gtx 970. It's cheaper than the 290x and performs better in most games, at lower power consumption and at cooler temps.

And IMO the 4690 is worth the extra money. Just don't try to save money on the gpu. For gaming that is the most important not the cpu. Any will do from the two you listed.
