I don't think that there's gonna be any GTX 980 Ti,because the 980 has already been pushed to it's max. However, the GTX 970 SLI setup is pretty beast. It will handle anything and everything.Best GTX 970's are ASUS STRIX,EVGA ACX 2.0,and Gigabyte G1 Gaming.
Just a heads up.... The Ti is a completely different core type in comparison to the normal 980. Even if the 980 IS pushed to it's max, the TI will be able to easily overshadow it.

The next tier of GPUs based on the GM210 chip, which is higher performance than the GM104 the GTX970 and GTX980 is based on could release at any time from now to the next year, my estimate would be 6months.
What this card will be called could be pretty much anything. GTX980ti or Titan 2 or whatever.
However this will be very expensive at launch, for now 2 GTX970s would be AMAZING upgrade for you.

EVGA to avoid is the ACX coolers on the 970, their cheap blower and ACX 2.0 coolers are built properly.
GTX980Ti or a "Titan 2" may be in the works with gm210. These would be the Maxwell versions of the GTX780, 780Ti, Titan, Titan Black if you take my meaning. They didn't really leave much room in the line-up in terms of version numbers, so they might release them as the next series up to compete with AMDs 300 series.
They usually wait a few months to bin GPUs and then release their dual GPU setups. So a GTX990 is also possibility.
